These unique designs are cast in gold or silver from pieces of tree bark. Some of the bark pieces were found at the base of a centuries-old Ponderosa pine on the banks of the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho; some were discovered in Colorado.
Many of these pieces are evocative of familiar images such as birds, calligraphy and clouds. Others are totally abstract.
